DosDur™ Self-Sealing Solution control the crack width in cement. Cracks in the cement sheath are a common phenomenon due to the relatively low tensile strength. Durability of the sheath is impaired by these cracks since they provide an easy path for the transportation of liquids and gasses that potentially harmful substances.
If micro-cracks grow, not only the cement sheath itself may be attacked, but also the leakage and then blowout will occur. Therefore, it is important to control the crack width and provide healing solution.

Swelling of DosDur™ in Oil

At DOSAS, our research and development (R&D) team provides a new technology called DosDur™ Self-Sealing Solution. All 3 experimental trials show consistent visual swelling of DosDur™ self-sealing particle in oil. The ground DosDur™ particle swells in hydrocarbons to induce the self-sealing of the cracked set-cement matrix.

Hydrocarbon Swelling Tests show excellent average percentage of DosDur™ volume swelling about 20% after 6h upon contact with a reactive gas:
Injected gas through the fracture at a constant rate and resulting differential pressure across the sample was measured.

The left picture shows initial volume of DosDur™ particles and the right pictures is taken after swelling. 20% crack closing at 1000 psi and 50% crack closing at 3000 psi showed excellent efficiency of the auto-sealing cement system.

We Offer Long-Term Solution

The concept of DosDur™ Self-Sealing Solution is related to their intrinsic ability to repair damage such as small crack formation that might have occurred during life span of an oil or natural gas well. With its advanced mechanical properties, the self-sealing cement system swells in the presence of hydrocarbons to stop the progression of mico-annulues and fluid and gas invasion to the cement matrix.

Maximize Well Integrity Life and Minimize Production Challenge

The system’s self-sealing cement additive is blended with the cement just before it is pumped into the well. The additive remains inactive until it contacts hydrocarbon. At that point, the self-sealing material absorbs the hydrocarbon and swells to plug the gap and seal the hydrocarbon flow and cracks are fully sealed in within 2 days.
