Zonalite™

Delayed Gel System for Temporary Isolation

Zonalite™ Openhole Water Shutoff

Advanced Temporary Blocking Gel for Enhanced Reservoir Performance

Zonalite™ is used as a temporary blocking gel for zone isolation, particularly useful in high-permeability formations where excessive losses of heavy brines or linear gels are not acceptable. Zonalite™ is a delayed, crosslinked gel system that contains polymers and internal breakers. Retained permeabilities in the polymer-invaded region remain high due to the use of low-residue polymers, and the polymer invasion depth is much shallower because of the highly crosslinked polymer network. Depending on the reservoir temperature, different types of breakers are used to reduce fluid viscosity and enhance flowback during oil and gas production.

Performance Highlight

Protect Zones from Undesired Oil, Gas, or Water Migration

Zonlaite™ demonstrated its exceptional capabilities in South Africa by addressing a challenging gas situation during the completion operations. To facilitate this critical task, a temporary gas shutoff was essential. DOSAS stepped up to deliver an innovative solution that efficiently sealed off gas resources for a short period of time. Once the job was done, the cleanup of the breaker reduced the gel viscosity to that of water, allowing for thorough cleanup.

  • Temperature Range

Zonalite™ can be used at temperatures ranging from 21 to 150 °C and in formations ranging from 0.1 to 2 darcy (D).

  • Brine Compatibility

Zonalite™ is compatible with KCl, NaCl, NaBr, CaCl2, CaBr2, and CaCl2/CaBr2 and other brines.

  • Stability

Zonalite™ exhibits perfect compatibility with crosslinkers and breakers, resulting in excellent fluid-loss control properties and minimal formation damage.
